New Blog Topic coming!

Published 2010-03-28 by june32nd. Category | Strategy

I got a new article series coming. Since I've been playing CIV4 I've always had the idea to record what's going on and post about it. Tell the history of the game I'm playing so-to-speak. Give you the readers a kind of history lesson - in which I tell a bizzoro verison of how the world could of happened. In CIV4 I'll be playing a country and tell you the history of the Earth that could have been. It's sounds fun to me and I brought the idea of writing down what happens to a friend who also agrees he's thought about doing it. So if I can convince him to do it, I'll take it from him and post it as well. That why It can become a constant article. The time frame is still a bitch sketchy as A game for him can be completed in three days as one for me can be a few weeks as I can take my time is short bursts. Either way the article will give the Earth Land type - high waters, islands or low waters, connected land, as well as what country is being played by the writer, the others civilzations on this bizzoro Earth and What climate, respectfullty.

Should be a fun read and a fun way to enjoy a game by another level. Hope you enjoy it and hope your excited.

Also as a shameless plug, tell your friends and post my blog on other sites. They don't have to be connect to gamerblogz.com and I feel that for that fact it could hinder my blog from hitting a wider select of readers. If more readers read than It may help me not want to post when I'm drunk and may motivate me to re-read of have my girlfriend re-read posts for spelling.

WTB: A Free to Play MMO

Published 2010-03-28 by june32nd. Category | MMORPG

Guild Wars. Pay for the box and key get the game monthly for free. I made a ryhme not because I'm a poet and don't know it, It's because I'm the shit and I write ryhmes to kill time. Why should I have to pay 30-50 dollars for a MMO and than be charged $14.99 a month. Sure the first month is free but with some games 50 USD covers both the 30 game and the month and than sum. Now don't quote me but I'm pretty sure I payed 50 for Aion. and 49.99 for each Warcraft X-pac. Seriouosly, what the fuck? In the case of World of Warcraft, let's be honest. To some degree it is a very fun game, but broken down. I was given re-skins of the same old models. Am I looking forward to Cataclysm? It is on my list of Upcoming MMOs to check out I will not lie. I'm expecting change and to be honest I've had no desire to make any alts to level to cap. I've done a Warrior to 60 in classic, raiding got him to 68 in Burning Crusade. He was deleted and the gold was sent to a Priest named Rejuve who I brought to 30 before jumping servers to make a druid who held he same name as the once beloved warrior I once called me. This druid went to 70, never raiding than made the trip through a few revists to the game to make it to 80, never raiding, got my welfare T9. Subscription frozen. I'm done with WoW and I'm done with the subscription plan.

Again Guild Wars dose fine with it's payment model, and even though I may not be a fan of the item shop model, or the buy-to-unlock model either, I should haven't to pay monthly period. I don't pay for Halo 3 monthly, I didn't pay monthly for Modern Warfare, and I don't pay for MW2. Sure I pay Xbox live fee but that gives me unlimited acess to a mutiple selection of games which I can pick. I don't pay monthly for Team Fortress 2 nor did I pay monthly for my time in Guild Wars. I did pay for new maps in halo and modern warare but those are comparable to the fps expansions. I don't understand why I have to, let's be honest with a game at 30+ USD with tax and you had a community of around 300k players that's 10,500,000 USD. Now World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King sold 2.8 million Copys within the first 24 hours. The Burning Crusade just as a side note sold 2.4 within the first 24 hours. Now 2.8 million x  40 USD = 112,000,000 USD. 112 million fucking dollars. Monthly. 14.99 x 12 = 178.88. Your fucking joking right? They don't need my monthly subscription. That's robbery at that point. Your milking us for money. The subscription is the milking of players.

Granted if your games sucks your going to flop, but the same thing happens with console games. That's the risk you take. Maybe if this was the case MMOs would come out with more to offer than what we get now.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it

LFGame: Upcoming

Published 2010-03-21 by june32nd. Category | MMORPG

So Allods is dead. The new patch killed it and any chance of me returning. Perfumes have a 7 day time frame than they expire and are deleted from inventory. Gear also will get cursed, you need to buy a different type of perfume to get rid of the curse. Once again it will be deleted after 7 days. Don't nickle and dime me.

Now for what I'm waiting for. Well it's a toss up. I did just get a job and get paid 10 and hour so I have some income to save to move up come june 1st, so subscriptions isn't a problem. I'm thinking about getting back into Lord of the Rings Online but here's my dilema; Why spend money on a game to tide me over for an MMO I'm looking to call home? I could save the money - for good reasons of course.

I'm currently waiting on Final Fantasy XIV, Earthrise, All Points Bulletin, Star Wars. The sad truth is I don't have the will or time to play a sandbox like earthrise. I just can't be sure I can dedicate enough time to it. I'll still give it a shot. I always enjoyed toying with the idea of playing a sandbox solo and being a great thieft or pirate. Though I can live out my thug-life dreams in APB. I don't know to much of the star wars story besides what i can sort of remember from the movies I watched when I was a kid. Final Fantasy is another I played but never finished 7,8,10,12, and currently playing and plan to beat 13. I'm not strange to Square-Enix though as I loved the first Kingdom Hearts. I always tried numerous times to get into 11 but the clunky console like UI and the lack of groups really didn't make the game to fun. The one time I did get into a linkshell another person from the shell was helping me out however, after that one day I never saw him again and he was the one who invited me into the linkshell. I love the world of final fantasy and plan to at least play all these MMOs and hope I can call one home. Still playing FFXIII and enjoying it besides the sappy and corny story line and Global Agenda, TF2, and CIV4 help kill some time.

Food 4 Thought

Published 2010-03-17 by june32nd. Category | MMORPG

Over at MMORPG I found a post and it talks about the 5 misconceptions of MMOs and players. The include the steriotype that we're all geeks. That MMOs are evolving and my favorite is that 1 million = failure. It's worth a read and worth a short post about it.

Where ya been?

Published 2010-03-15 by june32nd. Category | MMORPG

So for those who have stumbled onto this blog and are now somewhat readers you know I haven't been posting much. I must confess I've walked away from Allods Online. Not for the same fateful reasons other the others who have left because my reason pertain to real life. I'm currently trying to save up money for I can move out of the parental household with my girlfriend, a friend and that friends sister and because I am jobless and currently on unemployment I don't really have to much cash to burn away. However, I should be getting a job for this seaon in a nursery down the street, it helps when you go to school for it =). At $10 bucks an hour plus tips for loading mulch into cars I should have some sustainable cash flow, at least for the season.

My recent presence in a F2P triple A MMO did however secure my position on F2P. You're better off going the subscription route. There are pro and cons to both sides but one thing isn't really what I can afford. The standard price for a subscription is ~14 USD here in America with that you are allowed access to everything within game. In a Free to Play, you're only really given enough to play the game for free but not really anything high-level or end game. Though you can buy into the cash shop and if done right you shouldn't exceed a monthly subscription but that is just what players think and not what microtransaction developers think. I recently read a post in the Rune of Magic forums that said you'd be paying over 2 years of a subscription to be able to progress through end game. That's not really a problem if it's paid out over the 2 years, which doesn't seem to be the case. Allods has a decent cash shop now but as I did the math before the variable of perfumes doesn't weight in favor of just paying a subscription. The perfumes last but not for too long factor in griefing or deaths in instances and you could run out of perfumes before the end of the month and you end up spending more for more perfumes to continue playing that month.

True if I don't log into subscription based MMO for a few weeks I've wasted my money, If only they had roll-over minutes like AT&T. I know though, that when I do log into the MMO I will hit no walls - money wise. My point still remains however I shouldn't have to pay period to enjoy a game I bought for 30-50 dollars.

Even though I am taking a break from MMOs I haven't from games period. I recently traded in all the 360 games I don't play and bought Final Fantasy XIII. A 3 Disc-er haven't seen one of those since playstation days so it seems for now my time and spring break will be Final Fantasy filled. I do plan to return to MMOs but am taking a break for 2 reason. Number one being that I'm burnt man! I really got no drive anymore to log in and keep to the grind so like done with weed I'm taking a break so when I can get back to it, it'll be fresh feeling again. The last reason being I really don't want to play WoW and I've tried almost ever subscription game on the market, no joke more than once and I've done so many f2plays that my eyes are bleeding.

Also it doesn't mean this blog is done either, I'm still looking at MMO blogs and I'm still keeping an eye on a few games. Just now my post will most likely be Global Agenda articles/videos, Final Fantasy tid bits, and lastly my friends and I are starting a podcast soon so I'll be posting that as well just cause I'm a shameless plugger like that, and lastly I will still have MMO related Articles, my WTB section will be there and for will my LFGame section along with general rants.
