Way to fail, DelianZ

Published 2010-06-22 by Akjosch.

Monday, 2010-06-21, around 23:00 Teon server time (UTC+2), Silent Valley

So me (a level 79 Maestro) in Nightmare Heavy and with my trusty Basalt Battlehammer went to grind a bit in Silent Valley. I took our "little" 73 Bounty Hunter Amerleen (in shiney A-grade equipment) and our 78 Dominator Fluff (in Major Arcana robes and with an Arcana Mace) with me, since both are so seldom online when I am and I wanted to get them a bit of XP too.

Arriving at the deep end of the valley, we noticed a bunch of dead bodies lying around - most likely bots (people don't tend to waste time lying dead so long). Along comes DelianZ, an untagged Wind Rider in S80 equipment and thus easily outmatching every single one of us, with a nice red PKer name. Oh well, if he feels like PKing bots, or even other people, I don't mind. His and their problem. So we let him go ... until he attacked Fluff, at which point he dies. "Sorry, man." I PM him. "NP, I'll be back." he PMs back.

So I warn my party and we go on merrily slaughtering mobs left and right when I see him, still red, back on the horizon. He washes away his karma killing more mobs and comes back to us, attacking us again. So we start giving him a handful of Dwarven love right in his face. He uses Hide, then drops my golem and lands a lucky blow on Fluff, killing him, at which point it's just me with a bit of help from Amerleen against him.

He dies. Again.

I resurrect Fluff and we get ready to kill more mobs as a bunch of RedSky guys comes along and drops me for being flagged (way to make friends for your struggling alliance, scrubs!), ao I got back to the clan hall and restock on GCP pots. So I'm not there when Amerleen gets killed by DelianZ (yay, he managed to kill an A-grade Bounty Hunter, what a hero ...). Too bad, he'd probably just die a third time ...

End result: An S80 dagger goes in an area which he already outlevelled some time ago, attacks people a grade or two under his gear level, and only manages to get an "even". Way to fail.

Beating Joomla into submission, one file at a time

Published 2010-03-15 by Akjosch.

After finally sitting down with Joomla and learning what the hell they mean with "Component" vs. "Module" vs. "Article" (and I still don't get why the latter even needs to be a separate category - why can't I just add a module which includes other modules, as deep as I feel like?) as well as getting over my frustration with there not being a useful staging environment (what do you mean I have to change a bunch of modules on the live site without a preview?) I finally got a somewhat-useable site for my dear clan. So, without much ado, I present you: The Unity clan and Union alliance of Teon web site. Not much there, but the plan is to get a bunch of guides and general articles about the game and the clan. Like, the clan history. There's a lot to write about it.

Wut? I won?

So, Sace and Moxie from the L2 NA/EU team are promoting their new twitter activities as a way of community building. Who knows, it might even work. For the first "mini-event" they gave away five days of free play time for the first person who enters some serial codes they wrote. Thinking "what the hell, might as well ...", I logged into my NCSoft account and entered the EU code.

And, for the first time in my life that I can remember, I actually won.

Awesome. Money mouth

Teon sieges, 2010-02-15

So there we were, a bunch of people (two not-so-full parties in the end, though we started with just one) helping out defending Schuttgart. When I asked to be accepted as defenders, Stimorol even asked me "You do know SH will attack, right?" Yeah, I do. They didn't (Hazard, Qlimax, Oblivion, Vestoniceans and Demolition did though), but it was a real possibility, and I was really looking forward to it.

In the end we had just one attack to defend from. We did what I know to do best, snuck up from behind and hit their healers/supporters. I ran around with half an Oblivion party behind me trying to kill me for a while (including Gaogrimm, I think) until the attack was repelled, which was basically the extend of my personal contribution. Well, at least those weren't attacking the more "squishy" of my people.

6 kills, 7 deaths makes for a lousy statistic though. Way too little fighting.

Now Aden ... It was scheduled as pure "sit down, farm fame, and chat with people on clan/ally chat" type of siege, but I was strangely too tired to participate even in such. In the end, Rage ally got it with an alt clan, which raises the question: Why the hell didn't they commit more of friendly forces, like from KJ and BloodyLegend, to there instead of wasting them on Rune?!? Geez ...

In other news, insomnia sucks.
